Introduction

At FIS we provide a rich and balanced curriculum which combines two recognised teaching programmes. This ensures that the diverse learning needs and expectations of all our pupils are being met.

The British National Curriculum (BNC) is an educational syllabus used in schools across the UK as well as in many international schools around the world. It aims that all children gain a good grounding in reading, writing, speaking, listening and numeracy. It also places a great emphasis on children’s personal development.

In addition, International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is followed for all other academic subjects- science, history, geography, arts, and music. This curriculum has been developed as a cross-subject enrichment programme and it is delivered through thematic learning units. IPC puts the emphasis on a combination of academic, personal and international learning for children worldwide, combined with innovative and exciting ways to learn. It has been successfully integrated by many primary internationally-minded schools that are also following BNC for Maths and English.

In addition all children have twice weekly music and sport lessons with specialist teachers. In the Autumn and Summer terms, they also have regular swimming lessons with a qualified instructor.
