Languages - Introduction

At FIS all pupils, including native French speakers, follow the British National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum and are being taught in English on daily basis.

The pre-school and primary children are also offered the option of taking additional language lessons; currently these are either French or Dutch. However, if there is sufficient demand for any alternative language, then the school will happily consider adding this to its programme.

There are two levels of French available for primary aged children; lessons for those for whom it is a foreign language and an extended level for the native speakers.

Dutch is currently only available for native speakers.

We are aware that many families arrive in France with little or no knowledge of French or who would like to improve their French. Therefore, our French teacher, by special arrangement, offers French language lessons for adults.
